What is gas?
Gas, as an efficient and clean energy source, has entered millions of households. There are many types of gas, and the natural gas we use in our daily lives is mainly composed of methane, which is a colorless, odorless, non-toxic, and non corrosive combustible gas. When the concentration of natural gas in the air reaches a certain proportion, it will explode when exposed to an open flame; When the combustion of gas is insufficient, carbon monoxide will also be released. Therefore, safe use of gas is extremely important.

Under what circumstances can gas explode and catch fire?
Generally speaking, the gas flowing in pipelines or canned gas is still very safe without strong damage. The reason why it explodes is because it has three elements at the same time.
① Gas leakage mainly occurs at three locations: connections, hoses, and valves.
② Explosion concentration: When the proportion of natural gas concentration in the air reaches within the range of 5% to 15%, it is considered an explosion concentration. Excessive or insufficient concentration generally does not cause an explosion.
③ When encountering an ignition source, even small sparks can cause an explosion within the explosive concentration range.

How to identify gas leaks?
Gas is generally colorless, odorless, non-toxic, and non corrosive. How can we identify if a leak has occurred? It's actually quite simple, teach everyone four words.
① [Smell] Smell the scent
Gas is odorized before entering residential homes, giving it a smell similar to rotten eggs, making it easy to detect leaks. Therefore, once a similar odor is detected in the home, it may be a gas leak.
② Look at the gas meter
Without using gas at all, check if the number in the red box at the end of the gas meter moves. If it moves, it can be determined that there is a leak at the back of the gas meter valve (such as the rubber hose, interface, etc. between the gas meter, stove, and water heater).
③ Apply soap solution
Use soap, washing powder or detergent water to make soap liquid, and apply it to gas pipe, gas meter hose, cock switch and other places prone to air leakage in turn. If foam is generated after the soap liquid is applied and keeps increasing, it indicates that there is leakage in this part.
④ Measure concentration
If conditions permit, purchase professional gas concentration detection instruments for concentration detection. Families that have installed household gas detectors will sound an alarm when encountering gas leaks.

What should I do if I find a gas leak?
When a gas leak is discovered, do not make phone calls or switch power indoors. Any open flames or electric sparks can pose a significant danger!
The concentration of gas leakage in the air will only cause an explosion when it accumulates to a certain proportion. There is no need to panic. Follow the following four steps to deal with it and eliminate the danger of gas leakage.
① Quickly close the indoor gas main valve, usually at the front end of the gas meter.
② 【 Ventilation 】 Open doors and windows for ventilation, be careful not to turn on the exhaust fan to avoid electric sparks generated by the switch.
③ Evacuate quickly to an open and safe area outside the house, and prevent unrelated personnel from approaching.
④ After evacuating to a safe area, report to the police for emergency repairs and wait for professional personnel to arrive at the scene for inspection, repair, and rescue.

Gas safety, preventing non combustion
There are tips for gas safety protection to avoid gas accidents.
① Regularly check the hose connecting the gas appliance for detachment, aging, wear, and air leakage.
② After using gas, turn off the stove switch. If going out for a long time, also close the valve in front of the gas meter.
③ Do not wrap wires or hang objects on gas pipelines, and do not wrap gas meters or other gas facilities.
④ Do not stack waste paper, dry wood, gasoline and other flammable materials and debris around gas facilities.
⑤ It is recommended to install a gas leak alarm and an automatic shut-off device to detect and cut off the gas source in a timely manner.
